Macedonian Kingdom. Alexander III, the Great, 336-323 BC. Gold Stater (8.49 g), Abydos mint, struck c. 323-317 BC. Head of Athena right, in crested helmet with serpent ornament. Reverse: Nike left, holding wreath and stylis; HM monogram, pentagram, and cornucopia at left. Price 1524; Muller 381. Well centered and sharply struck, with reddish toning to reverse. Handsome portrait, with remaining luster. Good Very Fine.
