Lot 2528

1907 $10 Indian. No periods. PCGS graded MS-64 PQ. A touch of orange-brown patina on the highest point of the cheek and topmost hair curls of this lustrous, toned No Motto ten. The Indian motif took a zigzagging course in 1907 when three separate variations were produced by the mint before finally settling on this No Motto, No Periods type. But the design proved to be short-lived. Without IN GOD WE TRUST anywhere on the coin, people whose sense of tradition and propriety became upset and caused Congress to instruct the mint, who instructed the mint master, to correct the problem. Thus the 1907 is part of a two-year Type (PCGS # 8852) .
Estimated Value $3,000 - 3,500.
