1899, $1 Silver Certificate. Fr-233. Desirable "black eagle" in simply outstanding condition. The color is bright, the paper fresh, and best of all, centering is excellent with nice margins on all four sides. The Eagle of the Capitol as this vignette is known spreads its wings over portraits of Lincoln and Grant; all three were engraved by G. F. C. Smillie. The Lincoln portrait was based on a photograph by Anthony Berger. CGA graded Gem Uncirculated 67.
