Lot 136

1937-D Buffalo Nickel. 3 legs. NGC graded MS-66. A stunning quality gem example of what is probably the most popular 20th century mint error and the most recognized one too. This is a superb gem, fresh as a daisy with brilliant soft frosty surfaces exhibiting full mint brilliance. A touch of the lightest golden-silver iridescence enhances this already memorable example. We note a tiny planchet void (as produced) in the reverse field at the top of the bison's back that will serve as a diagnostic reference point for future identification. This gorgeous gem should serve as a high point for a top Registry Set of Buffalo Nickels. In an old NGC holder. NGC reports 13 at this lofty level with 1 in MS-67 star.
Estimated Value $35,000 - 40,000.

Realized $36,225
