Brown, Johnny Mack (1904-1974) Actor best known for westerns; he acted in more than 150 films. Original vintage 16 x 13 in. photograph, c. early 1930s. A chest-up portrait by Edwin Bower Hesser of the actor in western dress, with a dead-on stare. No photographer's stamp. Minor silvering at lower edge; otherwise, a stunning photograph. Brown acted in silent dramas and comedies with Garbo, Crawford and other stars, before becoming known for westerns. This photo has been in storage for 40+ years, since Hesser's death.
