Mechanical Banks. Four banks: Two "Jim Crow" banks with racist portrayals of an adult black man and a young boy, both with exaggerated lips and features, wearing red jackets with white collars and blue bowties; the adult has an arm that is raised by a lever which opens the mouth and makes the eyes roll down; both have 40-50% chipping on paint. A bank (1875 patent date) representing a tree trunk has a young black boy climbing out on a limb to a bird's nest with eggs; two birds hover in the tree; the tree limb moves. "Jonah and the Whale" was patented in 1890; it is 10 in. long. A lever causes Jonah to toss coins in the whale's mouth (its lower jaw moves).
Estimated Value $600 - 800.

Realized $2,875
