Magritte, René (1898-1967) Belgian Surrealist painter. Autograph Letter Signed ("M"), Brussels, Thursday (postmarked January 9, 1947), 1p., quarto, in French. He writes to Jacques Wergifosse about an exhibit. In part: "Here are the promised details: …The Exhibit will open at Verviers Sunday, January 19 at 11 o'clock…We will make a catalogue containing a preface and some snapshots. Will you send the preface text quickly…so that it can be printed immediately? (I would like to receive a copy of the preface in order to have the first one…." Fine. With transmittal envelope addresed in Magritte's hand and signed "Magritte" in the return address.
