Chamberlain, Neville (1869-1940) British prime minister; tried to appease Hitler by signing the 1938 Munich Agreement. Photograph Signed and Inscribed, "To Miss Lamont with grateful recollections of her care and attention. Neville Chamberlain / June 1940," on the lower mount, n.p., 12½ x 10 inches (image is 8¾ x 7 inches). An elegant, seated portrait, signed the month after he resigned as prime minister and was replaced by Winston Churchill. There are a couple of chips and scratches on Chamberlain's jacket; the mount is lightly foxed.
