Lot 1074

(Roosevelt, Franklin D. & Cleveland, Grover) Inaugural Ephemera. Collection includes 2 items from Grover Cleveland's 1885 inauguration: A 159 page soft-cover book, Inauguration. A Book for Fifty Million People. Illustrated by H.J. Kintz, 1885 (cover toning and chipping), and a 7 x 9 in. print, "Inauguration Ball" with busts of Cleveland and T. A. Hendricks, his Vice President. The Franklin D. Roosevelt ephemera includes a Typed Letter Signed "FDR" on White House letterhead, December 3, 1944, to Col Edwin A. Halsey, Secretary of the U.S. Senate, saying: "If the record shows that I was prayed over the last Inauguration twice, the record must be right. I have no recollection of the occasion. It is all right to ask Bishop Dun and Dr. Ryan." Also: a Limited De Luxe Edition, No. 534, of the Roosevelt-Wallace Official Program (1941); printed invitations to the 1937 inauguration of FDR and John N. Garner and the 1945 inauguration of FDR and Harry S Truman; an Inauguration Ceremonies Program for 1937; and a program for the 1945 Inaugural Ceremonies. Very good to fine.
Estimated Value $800 - 1,000.
