"Orbis Terrarum", c.1666. Any map which depicts California as an island is highly desirable, especially one that was first published before 1700!. World Map, Double Hemisphere. This particular example is from a Dutch Bible, published in Amsterdam by Stoopendaal (c.1700-1710). The text on the reverse side and several small areas of the bordering vignettes have been expertly restored. A most impressive and visually stunning map.
