1847, 5¢ red brown, . Scott 1. Three ample to very large margins, ample to just clear at top, magnificent "saturated" color somewhat resembling the orange brown shade, sharp impression, on an 1848 folded cover to New Haven CT tied by red grids, matching Boston postmark with integral "5cts" rate, an interesting aspect to this cover is the small magenta fingerprint mark at the bottom left of the cover, no doubt made by someone working in the New Haven post office when sorting the mail (New Haven's cancelling ink was magenta at this time period), the stamp has a small pen scrape and the cover has light aging spots, otherwise Fine, with 2004 P.S.E. certificate.
