1864 Two Cents. Small motto. PCGS graded MS-64 Red & Brown. The scarcer of the two varieties for this year, the Small Motto and Large Motto. Original mint red surfaces have been slightly muted to a darker reddish-brown. Lustrous surfaces are above average with regards to the number of abrasions and we note that the horizontal and vertical stripes of the shield are free from any ticks. Choice original mint frost is found in the recessed areas of the obverse device. A pleasing example and one that has less than 1/10 the number of the Large Motto variety graded in MS64RB at PCGS. PCGS population of 60 in MS-64RB, 23 in MS-65RB and 4 in MS-66RB (PCGS # 3580) .
