Lot 814

1794 Liberty Cap Cent. "Head of 1794". PCGS graded VF-30. Pleasing light chocolate fields with hints of steel-blue and violet hues hugging the devices and rims. A variety that is always quickly recognized by the pronounced border milling on the left side of the coin which protects the whole left side of the coin from wear. Even on this evenly worn Very Fine example, the hair and cap detail on the left side appear many points finer than Liberty's face or hair above ear. Strike weakness is noted at ERTY of LIBERTY and the corresponding area on the reverse. A small planchet depression is noted right of the denomination. A choice example spared any jarring scratches or nicks (PCGS # 901374) .
Estimated Value $1,200 - 1,500.

Realized $1,495
