Ptolemaic Egypt. Arsinöe II, wife of Ptolemy II, d. 270 BC. AR Dekadrachm (33.93 g), struck c. 270-261 BC. Diademed and veiled head of Arsinoe right, Λ behind. Reverse: Filleted double cornucopiae. Svor. 477; BMC p.43, 15; Troxell, ANSMN 28, Group 1. Surfaces porous overall, with a few areas of corrosion (mostly on reverse). Short flan crack, which looks solid and durable. Pleasing portrait. An affordable example of this rarity. Sharpness of Very Fine.
