Achaemenid Empire. Time of Artaxerxes I - Xerxes II, c. 455-420 BC. Gold Daric (8.32 g). Persian king or hero in kneeling-running pose right, holding dagger and bow. Reverse: Incuse punch, with worked linear patterning. Carradice Type IV, Group A (pl. XIII, 32); BMC Arabia pl. XXVI, 9; SNG Cop. --. Trifling flatness at forehead, otherwise an excellent bold strike. The coin richly lustrous. Choice and Rare. Extremely Fine.
