Lot 652
Cyzicus & Mytilene. 6th-4th century BC. Lot of Five Electrum or Gold Hektes. From Cyzicus: Forepart of rampant roaring lion, head reverted; tunny behind / Incuse square (cf. von Fritze 40, a Stater); also, Infant Herakles strangling snakes / Incuse square (Jameson 1422). And from Mytilene: Helmeted head of Athena right / Artemis head right (Bod. 73); Head of Io right / Head of Dionysios right (Bod. 77); Head of Actaeon right / Gorgoneion facing (Bod. 54). All well struck, but on usual tight flans -- some a bit off center. Nice material overall. Some rare. Lot of 5 coins. Coins range from Very Fine or better.
