Lot 2603

1908-D $20 St. Gaudens. With motto. PCGS graded MS-64 PQ. An absolutely stunning piece that highlights every characteristic that one would hope to see on this issue. The entire obverse and reverse surfaces are almost entirely flawless except the lightest hairlines found in the obverse fields. Slightly granular surfaces have beautiful rich gold color with hints of rose and olive hues. David Akers, U.S. gold specialist, noted that this issue was considered a seriously underrated coin from this series until a hoard surfaced and made examples in the near-gem and MS-65 grades relatively available. Still, it is quite hard to ever locate a coin with as much eye appeal and originality as the present offering (PCGS # 9148) .
Estimated Value $1,500 - 2,000.
The Michael M. Magdic Collection.

Realized $3,910
