Lot 2519

1892 $20 Liberty. PCGS graded AU-58. A very rare date from the Type III Liberty Head double eagle series. Philadelphia produced only 4,410 double eagle in 1892 and choice survivors are very scarce. This specimen has the eye appeal that every collector and/or dealer wants a choice AU 1892 double eagle to possess! Completely fresh with flashy light yellow gold fields graced by mint state luster. Only the faintest hairlines are in the fields. The top of Liberty's hair shows no friction nor does the tips of the eagles wings. Semi-reflective fields add to the eye appeal of this low mintage double eagle rarity. Very rare in mint state and we feel that this specimen should easily achieve mint state status. PCGS has graded only 13 in AU58 with 25 finer Housed in an older PCGS green label, fat letter holder (PCGS # 9019) .
Estimated Value $2,500 - 3,000.
The Michael M. Magdic Collection.
