Lot 2449

1915-S $10 Gold Indian. PCGS graded MS-61 PQ. Boldy struck and stunning eye appeal. Sharply squared borders accent fields and devices that are amply engulfed with luster. Rare in all mint state grades and excessively rare above MS-64, the 1915-S does generally come well struck but an well struck example coupled with fantastic eye appeal is very rare. Light orange fields with faint steel-blue and teal hues help to make this piece gorgeous. While not likely to reach the MS-63 level, it is our opinion that this specimen should easily reach the MS-62 grade. Identified by a small lint mark, mint made, left of the chin in field. Near the date, the finely granular skin breaks open in a few small patches to reveal several small prooflike patches. PCGS has graded 10 in this grade with 86 finer in all grades (PCGS # 8879) .
Estimated Value $2,500 - 3,000.
