Lot 2427

1909-S $10 Gold Indian. PCGS graded MS-62 PQ. A tough date in pleasing MS-62 and above. Well struck with LIBERTY boldly defined. Rich luster over surfaces that are finely granular and coppery gold in color. Identified by a faint hairline scratch under stars 4 & 5. Only 292,350 eagles were produced at San Francisco in 1909, a small number for the early 20th century. Survival ratios are quite low in choice mint state and one would do quite well to bid aggressively for this choice example. PCGS has graded 53 in MS-62 with 88 finer (PCGS # 8864) .
Estimated Value $1,000 - 1,200.
The Michael M. Magdic Collection.

Realized $3,105
