Lot 2384

1896-S $10 Gold Liberty. PCGS graded MS-62. A totally frosty and beautiful example of an issue that is rare in mint states and exceedingly rare above MS-62. In fact, this specimen being offered is most likely one of the finer known example to exist. Rich orange-gold toning at the peripheries fades into straw-yellow centers. All surfaces are microgranular and heavily frosted. Only a single, heavier nick right of star 1 keeps this coin from being graded higher. This issue is seldom seen this original and it reiterates the skill that was required in building this magnificent collection. PCGS has graded 22 in MS-62, 3 in MS-63 and 1 in MS-65 (PCGS # 8736) .
Estimated Value $3,300 - 3,500.
The Michael M. Magdic Collection.
