Lot 2373

1893-CC $10 Gold Liberty. PCGS graded AU-55 PQ. A beautiful example of this Carson City eagle issue that has managed to keep its originality for all these years. Deep yellow gold surfaces showcase the way these eagles looked when they were produced and aside from some trivial light hairlines, this piece is exceptionally choice for the AU category. This is the final year of production of gold coinage at the Carson City Mint. For the eagle series, only 14,000 coins were produced in 1893 at Carson City and this issue is very rare in the uncirculated condition. In fact, PCGS has graded only 4 mint state examples, none grading finer than MS-62. A superbly original, fresh and choice AU example such as the present coin is a great opportunity for the quality conscious gold collector. Housed in an old PCGS green label, fat letter holder. PCGS population of 18 in AU-55, 14 in AU-58, 2 in MS-61 and 2 in MS-64 (PCGS # 8726) .
Estimated Value $2,000 - 2,400.
The Michael M. Magdic Collection.
