1846-C $2.50 Gold Liberty. NGC graded AU-50. Light greenish gold. Struck from rusted dies, evidence of which is heaviest near the date and under the eagle's right wing. Sharp detail with minor hairlines. Light die clashing is seen on the reverse. A tiny scuff is near the border at the 7th star. A rare issue from the Charlotte Mint with a mintage of only 4,808 pieces. Douglas Winter stated this date is, "Rare and undervalued". Population 5, 29 finer.
