Lot 1770

1877 Trade Dollar. PCGS graded Proof 64. A choice proof with pewter fields highlighted by touches of magenta, champagne and blue hues. The reflectivity of the fields is strong and as a result, light hairlines are observable. As to be expected on a near-gem proof, the devices of Liberty and the eagle are free from any ticks. The lighter silver coloration of the devices also exhibit a smooth luster that shifts upwards during viewing. The year 1877 marks the last year that business strikes and proofs were produced by the Philadelphia Mint in the same year for the Trade Dollars Series. Housed in an older PCGS green label holder. PCGS population of 40 in PR64 with 20 finer (PCGS # 7057) .
Estimated Value $3,000 - 3,500.

Realized $5,520
