Lot 1218

1837 Capped Bust Half Dollar. NGC graded MS-64. An important type coin in an original and scarcely seen near-gem condition. Gorgeous deep golden and russet toning graces lustrous and satiny surfaces. Light die clashing is seen just underneath the chin of Liberty. A reed mark between stars 1and 2 and a short diagonal scratch right of star 3 in the field are the only random marks seen on either obverse or reverse. The reverse has a touch of deeper metallic toning. A fine example of this popular, short-lived type. NGC population of 71 in MS-64 with only 50 finer.
Estimated Value $2,600 - 2,800.

Realized $2,760
