Lot 1210

1831 Capped Bust Half Dollar. NGC graded MS-65. The obverse is stormy gray with a hint of reflectivity and rainbow iridescence in the periphery. A touch of discoloration, a darker gray, is on the cheek, most likely from cabinet friction. Liberty's hair is superbly struck and still retains original mint frost within the recessed portions. The reverse surfaces have a rich purple tint to them. Luster engulfs the surfaces of both obverse and reverse. A sharp example with above average eye appeal and definite gem characteristics. A fantastic candidate for a high grade Capped Bust "type" example. NGC population of 37 in MS-65 with only 9 in MS-66 as finest.
Estimated Value $3,000 - 3,300.

Realized $4,140
