Lot 1204

1822 Capped Bust Half Dollar. PCGS graded MS-63. Pewter gray surfaces possess radial luster and a light rose film. A well struck example with fully brought up hair detail and feather detail. We note a small, dull nick to the left of the centering dot. On the reverse, some light champagne toning is seen in the periphery. Additionally, as a diagnostic for the variety, we note the presence of raised bumps underneath the eagle's right wing, within the stripes of the shield and on the eagle's left claw. These bumps are a result of the dies having rusted. A very soothing and original example! PCGS has graded 47 in MS-63 with 42 finer (PCGS # 6129) .
Estimated Value $1,150 - 1,250.
The Michael M. Magdic Collection.
