Lot 1075

1857 Liberty Seated Dime. PCGS graded Proof 63 PQ. The 1857 dime is a Rarity-6 issue as a proof and few survive in any condition. The fields on this specimen have a medium intensity to their reflectivity and are covered in light golden toning and iridescence. A small lint mark on the hand of Liberty is an excellent identifier. The device of Liberty is mark free and the entire coin, obverse and reverse, is superbly struck. We feel that this rarity is choice for the grade and conservatively graded by PCGS. Only 70 proofs were struck in 1857 and we are sure bidders will be eager to acquire this seldom seen rarity. PCGS population of 7 in PR-63, 7 in PR-64, 2 in PR-65 and 3 in PR-66 (PCGS # 4746) .
Estimated Value $2,500 - 2,800.

Realized $3,450
