Lot 4337

(Kennedy, Jacqueline). One of twelve bottles of perfume made exclusively for Jacqueline Kennedy during the 1960 presidential campaign by Frank Allen, a close friend of John F. Kennedy. Containing ½ oz. of perfume, the bottle bears Mrs. Kennedy's name in gold leaf, as does the black silk pouch that holds it. Allen kept two of the twelve bottles for himself and gave the other ten to Mrs. Kennedy, who gave some of them to a few close friends and relatives at JFK's inauguration. Allen informed Richard Ellis, his close friend and fellow member of the New York Athletic Club, that he did not want the two bottles he possessed to be sold during his lifetime, because he did not want to commercialize items he had obtained through his friendship with the Kennedys.

This rare collector's item deserves a place in a museum or in a prestigious presidential collection. The perfume and pouch is accompanied by a supporting letter of documentation from Richard Ellis, legendary collector and dealer of presidential memorabilia, who was given the perfume by Mr. Allen. Also included is a copy of an obituary of Mr. Allen from the New York Athletic Club. It mentions his association with President Kennedy and an original PT 109 tieclip that Mr. Allen designed for distribution during JFK's campaign.
Estimated Value $3,000 - 4,000.
