Draped Bust Cent. 1798 S-145. Rarity-3. Fine-12 Mint Error-Double Struck. Medium olive brown. Possibly re-colored long ago. Reasonably smooth surfaces. Some ancient pin scratches. A short scratch right of the date. Some circulation marks….most notable on the leaf below M. DOUBLE STRUCK, with the second strike 5% off-center toward 10:00. The date shows as 17988 with doubling at the point of the bust and at the top of the head. The dentils and the right side of the reverse show doubling. An interesting mint error.
