Goldberg Coins and Collectibles

Sale 25

Lot 708

1795 Flowing Hair Half Dollar. O-117a, R.4. NGC graded AU-58. Lovely, silver-gray, blue and sunset-orange toning over lightly worn surfaces. The quality of this coin vastly exceeds that of the plate coin of O-117a in the third edition of Overton. There is no illustration for O-117, but the Census is listed as 58, 40, 30, 30, 25, so this coin may be the finest example known of the variety. O-117a is a later die state that shows a crack running from the rim to the bust between the 5 of the date and the last star. This one also shows a clear, raised line hovering over Liberty's head. A wonderful opportunity for both the type collector and the advanced variety collector.
Estimated Value $10,000 - 12,000.

Realized $26,450
