Lot 3144

Vespasian, AD 69-79. AR Denarius struck at Rome, AD 69-71. Laureate head right of Vespasian. Reverse: Personification of Judaea seated right, in attitude of mourning; behind, trophy. RIC 15(b). C. 226. Scratching on obverse; well-centered; reverse is particularly bold. Very Fine or better.

This is a strong example, sorrowfully, to include in a Jewish coin collection, proclaiming the calamitous Roman victory at the conclusion of the Jewish War.
Estimated Value $275 - 375.
