Lot 3067

AR Shekel (13.82g) dated year 4 (AD 69/70). Temple vessel with nine pearls across the rim; above, date. Reverse: Stem with three pomegranate fruits. NLJ 89. TJC 207 (this obverse die). H-665. Only the slightest porosity is evident on the reverse. Extremely Fine.

This remarkable specimen is a very early striking of the obverse die and is certainly one of the finest known of this very rare coin, which, when it appears, is usually in F-VF condition. This beauty is one of the finest we have seen and should stir considerable bidder interest.
Estimated Value $10,000 - 12,500.
