Lot 3050

Herod Agrippa I, AD 37-43. AE 19 minted at Caesarea, dated year 7 (AD 42/3). Diademed and draped bust right of Agrippa I. Reverse: Tyche of Caesarea standing to left, resting right hand on rudder and holding branch in left; in right field, date. Mesh1 90. TJC 122. H-555. Very rare. Very Fine.

While the specimen pictured in Numismatic Legacy of the Jews is better centered, this coin displays a compelling portrait of this friend of Caligula and descendant of the Maccabees.
Estimated Value $4,000 - 5,000.

Realized $6,900
