Lot 2504

1856-C $5 Liberty. NGC graded MS-60. Well struck from dies that were slightly out-of-parallel, the only weakness appearing in the denticles at the base of the obverse and the corresponding area atop the reverse. The surfaces feature a nice intermingling of satiny and brilliant fields, with just the slightest hint of color on the otherwise sunny-yellow gold. Very scarce in this grade. NGC reports 5 in MS-60, 6 in MS-61, and only 1 in MS-62. The best examples reported by PCGS are five MS-61s!
Estimated Value $12,000 - 15,000.

Realized $14,663
