Lot 2488

1808 $5 Capped Draped Bust. Miller-107, Breen 4-B, R.3. PCGS graded MS-62. A frosty, Mint State example with sunny yellow luster on both sides. Well struck and problem-free. Housed in an older-generation, green-label holder and, yes, we agree that this one appears to be undergraded. Perfect for type purposes. Miller calls this the most common of the 1808 Half Eagle varieties and notes that it is usually found in high grades. PCGS reports 14 in this grade, 12 in MS-63, 3 in MS-64, and 1 in MS-65 (PCGS # 8102) .
Estimated Value $5,250 - 5,750.

Realized $12,650
