Group of Four Apple Green and Gold Footed Dishes. England, early 19th century. Dish and stepped foot with scalloped rim, and fairly shallow bowl (fruit plates?). Foot rim, tondo border, and cavetto neatly gilt and stylish. Each dish with attractive, different river or water scene. These labeled as: "Near Loch Tay," "Banks of Esk," "Stockly Beck," and "On the Rhine." Each of these followed by the number 648. Dishes very fine plus, free of chips or repairs, with only an occasional scratch here or there, and one with a little rubbing in the scene. Height: 2-5/8"; Diameter: 8-7/8". Colorful and choice! Lot of 4 items.
Estimated Value $750 - 1,250.
From the estate of Marion Davies (companion of William Randolph Hearst), which the famous magician, Blackstone, purchased in the 1940's. Subsequently, ex Blackstone estate.
