Duncan, Andrew. The Edinburgh New Dispensatory. First American edition, published in Philadelphia, "Printed by T. Dobson, at the Stone-House…in Second-Street," 1791. Leather-bound volume, 624 pages, plus an additional English and Latin index. An in-depth dispensatory containing the elements of pharmaceutical chemistry, materia medica, and pharmaceutical preparations and medicinal compositions. Includes copper plates of the most convenient furnaces and principal pharmaceutical instruments. Overall light toning; a small burn hole affects some of the text of eight pages in the center of the volume. Covers are rough; otherwise, sound and readable throughout. Originally published in Edinburgh in 1788.
