Sitting Bull Newspaper Account. Philadelphia Evening Bulletin, September 1, 1876, 8 pages, 21½ x 15¼ in. Just over two months after General George Custer's ignominious defeat at the battle of the Little Big Horn, the paper publishes a jingoistic article on Sitting Bull that demonstrates intense prejudice and hatred of Native Americans. Titled "Sitting Bull. His Career Looked Into - The Romance Knocked Out of the History of this Wicked Old Red Skin." The writer places "the dirty, greasy, copper-colored hide Sitting Bull" in the same category as "any other leader of savage cut-throats," and continues with more vitriol. Light overall toning, else Very Fine.
Estimated Value $300 - 400.
