Civil War-Era Politicians. Four items: (1&2) Roscoe Conkling, two Cards Signed, no place, no date; one is 2½ x 3½ in; the other is 2½ x 4½ in. The first is mounted to a larger card. Both Fine. Conklin resigned his senate seat in protest against President Garfield's policies. (3) Benjamin Franklin Wade, Card Signed ("B.F. Wade / Ohio"), with printed "Vice President's Chamber" and "U.S. Senate" headings affixed at top and bottom. Wade co-authored the Wade-Davis Manifesto and voted for Andrew Johnson's impeachment. Glue residue affects aesthetics but not legibility. Good. (4) Thomas Dawes Eliot Autograph Letter Signed ("T.D. Eliot"), New Bedford (Mass.), Oct. 12, 1855, 1 pg., 10 x 7½ in., with political content. Very Fine. (4 items).
