Lot 316

Lincoln, Mary Todd (1818-1882) First Lady; married Abraham Lincoln in 1842. Autograph Letter Signed, Executive Mansion, no date (c. 1861-65), 1 pg., 4½ x 3 7/8 in.Written on light brown paper to Mrs. Lester. In full: "Executive Mansaion / Mrs. Lester - I would be very much pleased to see you at the house this evening. Mr. Lincoln will be with us. Very truly / Mary Lincoln." An old marginal chip affected the top of the "g" in "evening" and a horizontal tear, repaired by archivally backing the letter, ran through the tops of two letters and two words in one line of text. Minor soiling; a light red pencil notation on verso does not show through. Overall Very Good.
