Bruce, Blanche Kelso & Other African-American Politicians (1841-98) Born a slave, Bruce became the first full-term African American senator. Rare Signature with state ("B.K. Bruce / Miss."), probably as senator, on a 1½ x 3 3/8 in. piece of paper; small mounting trace on verso. Also, Edward W. Brooke, Massachusetts senator, Signature on 3 x 5 in. card; Barbara Jordan, congresswoman from Texas, Signature on 3 x 5 in. card; and Robert C. Weaver, first African-American Cabinet Member (Secretary of HUD), Signature on a First Day Cover saluting urban planning, postmarked 1967. All Fine or better. (4 items).
