1856. Snow 9, "Second Restrike". PCGS graded Proof 64. Nice color, with a red and gold obverse and a brown and gold reverse. Small planchet void (as struck) in the center of the reverse. Housed in an old green-label PCGS holder. Snow calls this a Second Restrike and places the date of manufacture sometime in 1860(?!), presumably when they were struck to satisfy collector demand. This example is a Middle Die State, with the obverse showing a fine line from the I of UNITED to the rim and another thin die line running from the eagle's beak through the U to the rim. The reverse has a center dot, tying it to several other Restrike varieties (according to Snow, this die has never been found on circulation strikes). This is a great chance to finally own an 1856 Flying Eagle Cent, the date that started the immensely popular Small Cent series off with a bang (PCGS # 2037) .
Estimated Value $11,000 - 13,000.

Realized $14,375
