1796 Liberty Cap Cent. NGC graded MS-61 Brown. The strike is well above average with uniform medium chocolate brown color throughout. We note a few unimportant planchet defects on Liberty's cheek and around CENT as made. The Robinson S. Brown, Jr. Collection, which we sold in 1986 (Lot 108), contained only a VF-20 specimen. This is the only Mint State example graded by either grading service.
