Egypt. Ptolemaic Kings. Ptolemy I, 323-283 BC. Gold Hemidrachm (1.8 g), struck c. 289-288 BC. Scarce. Diademed bust of Ptolemy right, wearing aegis. Reverse: Eagle standing left on thunderbolt, wings open; XA monogram at left. Cf. Svoronos 323. Some dark deposits remaining in the deep recesses of the high relief portrait. A few light scrapes or scratches in the fields. Very Fine.
