Bar Kochba Revolt, 132-135 AD. AE Middle Bronze (27 mm.), Year 3 (undated), struck 134/135 AD. . Hen-736. Scarce and interesting with underlying profile. Palm tree of seven branches, with two date clusters below; Hebrew inscription across field ("Simon"). Reverse: Vine leaf with branch; Hebrew inscription around ("For the freedom of Jerusalem"). Hendin 736; Mild. 111. Struck on tight flan -- the palm sharp and choice. The reverse with obvious profile from the undertype; perhaps Vespasian, or maybe even Vitellius. Pleasing deep green and lighter green patina, with tan earthen residues. Nice Very Fine.
