Lot 1068

1807 $2.50 Capped Bust. PCGS graded AU-55. A rare date that is seldom offered at all, especially in such high grade. This particular one boasts bright yellow surfaces (with a hint of pale green), strong luster, and a nice even strike (weak only on the eagle's head and neck and on the scroll). Mintages stalled at 6,812 for the year, and most of those were melted or lost. Perhaps 200 exist today, most in circulated grades well below the grade of this example (PCGS # 7656) .
Estimated Value $8,000 - 9,000.

Realized $10,925
