Theodosius II, 402-450 AD. Gold Solidus (4.38 g), Constantinople, struck 450-453 AD. Diademed, helmeted, and cuirassed bust, three-quarters facing, holding spear and decorated shield. Reverse: Constantinople enthroned left, holding globus cruciger and scepter, shield behind, star at left. RIC 313; Depeyrot 84/1. Well centered and struck. Very lustrous. Minor reverse graffiti. Near Extremely Fine.
