Lot 1235

Columbian World's Fair, Chicago, 1892-1893. Lot of Three Intact Beribboned Medals. All with common motif of Columbus landing scene, and red, white, and blue ribbons. The largest, with brass bars for pin and bail, has portrait of the Explorer; back has scene of Statue of Liberty, and U.S. battleship flanked by sailor and soldier. Another New York medal, has profile bust of Columbus on obverse of white metal medallion. The last and smallest with silver-plated, frame surrounding ribbon. The medal with commemorative inscription on back. All items intact and complete. Ribbons with usual soiling, the hanging bars tarnished, but medals choice, with little wear. Lengths: 2-1/8" - 3-7/8". Scarce in this condition.
