Lot 1218

Columbian World's Fair, Chicago, 1892-1893. A Lot of House Wares. Most amusing, a chrome or nickel plated pickle fork, with mostly hand-painted (floral arabesques) porcelain handle, marked, "Souvenir Chicago 1893, Eat Wichert's Pickles." Plus, a little thimble, with "World's Columbian Exposition" in raised ornate script. Also, a glass tumbler with image of the Administration Building, with "Grandma… 1893," hand engraved on the back. A miniature "shot" mug, ruby-flashed, and etched with "Worlds Fair 1893 / Agnes." A pewter(?) napkin ring, "World's Fair, '93, Chicago. And finally, "The Last Nail," a mechanical pencil shaped as a large nail, symbolizing the final nail that completed construction of the Women's Building at the Fair. But for fork, items nice to choice condition. Lot of 6 pieces. Cf. Rossen & Kaduck, p. 110, no. 8; cf. p. 112, no. 6; p. 124, no. 8; p. 142, no. 4.
